Childcare Vouchers |  | The Childcare Vouchers Salary Sacrifice was introduced to make it easier for parents to participate in employment, and make it easier for employers to recruit and retain talented individuals.
50% of female employees have children under the age of five, and a third of the UK workforce has at least one dependent child.
Any working parent with a child under the age of 16 is eligible to use Childcare Vouchers to pay for childcare regardless of their tax status.
The average employer saves up to £373 in National Insurance contributions for each employee who uses childcare vouchers
The average employee saves up to £1196 each year towards the cost of childcare.
Both parents can participate, which means a potential saving of £2392 per family.
The majority of childcare options can be paid for using childcare vouchers.
There is no net cost to the employer from offering childcare vouchers as a salary sacrifice benefit.

Salary Sacrifice Cycle to Work |  | The Cycle to Work Salary Sacrifice was introduced to encourage more people to use bikes to commute to and from work.
By using a cycle to commute to work your employees will not only save tax and national insurance, they will also reduce pollution and improve their health.
It’s like going to the gym whilst you commute!
Cycles to Work is very simple. After you have signed up to the scheme your employees choose a cycle from an approved supplier.
The cycle is bought by the employer who reclaims the VAT
The employee takes delivery of the cycle for their exclusive use - provided they se it for qualifying journeys, i.e. commuting to work
The VAT free price is then deducted from the employee’s salary by equal instalments over a period of time (typically 18 months), as part of a salary sacrifice scheme.
At the end of the payment period the employee may be given the option purchase the bike at a ‘fair market price’, though depends on the period they have had the cycle loaned to them for.
The fair market price is usually 5% of the original purchase price.
The employer saves money on National Insurance costs and Value Added Tax (VAT).
